Expect a lot of on-air tributes this week at WDIV as beloved anchor Devin Scillian signs off for the last time on Friday.

On Thanksgiving viewers got a bit of a preview as co-anchor Kimberly Gill gave a nice shout out to Scillian at the parade, describing him as having "unmistakable warmth and wit."

Scillian is retiring from the station after 30 years, following a number of other on-air personalities who took buyouts from the station earlier this year including Bernie Smilovitz, Rod Meloni, Mara MacDonald, Paula Tutman and Tim Pamplin.

Many fans clearly saw him as a class act that carried on with intelligence, witt and professionalism.

"Part of getting older is, of course, asking, “Where has the time gone?” I’m certainly wondering that now as my last WDIV newscast is on the calendar," Scilian wrote in October in a messae posted on the station's website.

"And as we draw closer to what will be my 30th America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I am astonished at the passage of three decades in what feels like the snap of my fingers. But it recently dawned on me that I am now almost exactly the age that Mort Crim was when I came to Detroit to try to follow in his legendary footsteps. And I think that struck me as a sign that it might be time to move along. And so, Dec. 13 will mark my last newscast at this wonderful and extraordinary television station."

His replacement is Ty Steele, whose last anchor job was at KCRA-TV in Sacramento.
